Hurley will be putting on the 2nd Annual Dane Williams Memorial Surf Festival on Saturday, an event that will raise money on behalf of the surf company’s intern found dead in an alley after attending a tradeshow in San Diego.The event will be held at Goldenwest Street in Huntington Beach.Hurley employee Brandon Guilmette is collecting donations for the event, along with an entry fee for competitors that will go toward the “Dane Williams Memorial Fund.”“Last year we had amazing prizes for all finalists and a lot of great items to raffle throughout the day. Anything that you can help with would be greatly appreciated! Aside from the donations, I hope that you will be able to join us that day to remember our dear friend Dane,” reads the announcement.Just a few weeks ago, a San Diego man was arrested and charged with murder and two charges of sexual assault. Police said it’s still unknown how Williams died.Williams was last seen around 3 a.m. Jan. 26, 2008, outside a bar at the Hard Rock Hotel in the Gaslamp district.According to past articles on the Orange County Register, Williams was found Jan. 29, 2008, at 6 a.m. in an alley wrapped in a blood-stained plaid blanket with small cuts on his body.
