Summer is unofficially here, and after a few bummer days of overcast skies beachgoers were eager to peel off their layers and get some sun. In Newport Beach Wednesday afternoon, crowds were thick and parking was at a premium as people flocked to the coast to beat the heat.If you’re stuck in the office and want to be transported to the sand, check out some shots below:
The water has warm, in to the upper 60s, and there were plenty of people getting in the ocean to cool off. There’s lots of swell in the water, so if you are headed down, make sure you swim near a lifeguard and ask about any hazards in the area. With strong surf comes strong rip currents, so be careful out there.
The surf will back down Thursday and Friday with 2-foot-to-3-foot-plus surf at many breaks and some waves to 4 feet at best northwest wind swell exposed and combo breaks, according to Surfline.com.
