If you surf or you love the ocean and you can swim really well, then here’s a cool job opportunity where you can get paid to hang on the beach and catch some rays? The city of Huntington Beach Marine Safety Division is looking for new lifeguard recruits for the summer of 2010.
In just two weeks Surf City will be holding lifeguard tryouts near the Huntington Beach Pier.
The minimum requirements for all male and female applicants include: at least 17 years of age by June 1, 2010, be in great health and have 20/40 vision (uncorrected by glasses or contact lenses) in both eyes.
A pre-placement medical exam and drug screening will be conducted if a person is offered the job.
Interested candidates must complete a 1000 yard ocean swim, 500 yard ocean swim and 1500 yard run-swim-run.
The starting pay is $15.92 an hour, with a five percent pay increase for those with EMT certification or if you’re bi-lingual. For more info. you call (714) 374-1752 or go to www.huntingtonbeachca.gov.
