San Francisco is one of the main cities in California. Most known for its Victorian architecture, liberal community, scenic beauty, hilly terrain, great ethnic and cultural diversity and summer fog, San Francisco draws in tourists each season and remains one of the most visited cities in the world.

Fisherman’s Wharf is a great place to see amazing street entertainers, eat tasty seafood, watch sea lions, visit museums, or make a trip to the infamous Alcatraz Prison or the lovely Angel Island. Working fishing boats still come into a small port at Jones and Jefferson, which is the end of the Muni Historic F-streetcar. There are also small day and party boats available for rent. Visitors have testified that the fresh breeze from the bay provides a refreshing setting.

The Chinatown of San Francisco is located around Grant Street from Bush to Columbus. An exhibition of local Asian life, there are various good eating places and numerous shops. Stockton Street is the main street where most locals do the shopping for food. After the visit to Chinatown, the Lincoln Park is a place that provides majestic views of Marin headlands and the Golden Gate Bridge. At the western end of Cliff House, there are both semi-casual and more formal eating and drinking place. Located nearby is the Legion of Honour Museum which houses many remarkable works of art. Many might not have heard of the Twin Peaks. 875m above sea level, the Twin Peaks offer the best view of the city. The sights are greatest during sunset and it is advisable to bring a jacket as the temperature may be a little lower than in the rest of the city given the height of the peaks.

One of the best ways to see San Francisco is from San Francisco Bay waters. There are many companies offering San Francisco tours at different prices but they all provide a wonderful view of the bridges, Alcatraz Island and the city. Only specific island tours are allowed to land at Alcatraz but a typical tour around the island moves at a slow crawl, giving you a great opportunity to photograph picturesque sights as you move along.

Of course, visitors should never miss the Golden Gate Bridge located at the Golden Gate. Undoubtedly the most recognizable landmark in San Francisco and one of the most famous bridges in the United States, it has been dubbed one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. The bridge spans the Golden Gate, a strait between San Francisco and Marin County to the north, and is one of the major road routes into and out of the city.
